PLAT KERETA BERNILAI RM30.9 JUTA

London – Seorang ahli perniagaan menolak tawaran lebih £6 juta (RM30.9 juta) untuk nombor plat pendaftaran F1 yang mungkin membolehkannya membeli 600 kereta Ford Fiestas.


Afzal Khan membelanjakan ratusan ribu pound untuk memiliki satu daripada koleksi plat pendaftaran peribadi paling hebat di Britain. Dan nombor pendaftaran paling diburu ramai ialah F1 yang kini tertera pada kereta Bugatti Veyron miliknya. Usahawan itu mencetuskan kontroversi pada 2008 apabila dia membayar £440,000 (RM2.2 juta) untuk nombor pendaftaran itu yang diletakkan pada Mclarren Mercedes, harga paling tinggi untuk nombor plat kenderaan pernah dicatatkan di Britain.
Tetapi ia terbukti menjadi pelaburan menguntungkan dengan nilai plat pendaftaran itu kian meningkat lebih 10 kali ganda selepas seorang hartawan menawarkan untuk mebelinya dengan harga RM30.9 juta. Sekiranya dia menerima tawaran itu, akan membolehkannya membeli enam lagi Bugatti Veyron, 75 Range Rover atau 600 Ford Fiestas.
Bagaimanapun, Khan yang mempunyai syarikat Rekaan Khan di Brad- ford, menolak tawaran itu kerana percaya nilainya lebih tinggi daripada tawaran diterima.
Malah, dia tidak terdesak untuk memiliki kereta baru kerana turut mempunyai plat pendaftaran Mercedes SLR McLarennya yang berharga antara £200,000 (RM1.03 juta) dan sebuah lagi plet kereta terpakainya yang berharga £300,000 (RM1.5 juta). Keengganan Khan untuk menjual plat pendaftaran itu bermakna dia masih memegang rekod sebagai individu paling banyak membelanjakan wang untuk memperoleh plat pendaftaran kereta di Britain.
Sementara itu, jutawan Russia Roman Abramovich, yang juga pemilik kelab bola sepak Chelsea hanya bersedia membelanjakan sebanyak £285,000 (RM1.4 juta) daripada hartanya yang bernilai £11 bilion (RM56.7 bilion) untuk membeli nombor plat ‘VIP 1’.

The reason for these trees being bendy actually is known. We've got a lot of trees like this around my parts and are locally known as "pistol butts". What happens is you have smaller, younger trees, and they get a heavy snow load on them that bends them over. Then when the snow starts melting part of the tree goes back upwards while the weight of the snow keeps the rest bent over. Its kind of like when you soak a piece of lumber in water and then put it in traction and once it dries it stays bent.
